About The Artist
Hello friends! My name is Charlotte Knight, or Char, and I am a Mi'kmaq Indigequeer Femme! I currently live in Waterloo Ontario, I grew up in Brampton, and I am from Dalhousie, New Brunswick. I am one of the first in my family to start reconnecting, and I've been trying to learn my language and traditions so I can help the rest of my family in reconnecting .
I am an Indigenous beader, and my work normally includes earrings, bracelets, medicine pouches, pendants, and bookmarks. Lately, I've been also making keychains, zipper pulls, and necklaces.
I work with all sustainably harvested and cruelty free items, and try to support small Indigenous artists whenever possible. I welcome questions regarding where materials have been sourced, and try to be as transparent as possible.
My pieces are reflections of my lived experience, and serve as a way for me to explain and process my emotions and thought patterns. I don't usually work off of patterns unless doing a custom piece, and I will not follow a pattern exactly either.
I remake some of my pieces, but they will always be slightly different. Others I will not, but I can always do a custom piece with the style that you are looking for! I will never replicate another artist's work, and will reach out if I feel any bit of a new piece I make is similar before posting.
I aim to keep my prices accessible while still paying myself enough to cover for supplies and time. I try to do sponsored pieces, or make sure that I have smaller pieces available so that everyone can have access to beadwork!
Beadwork truly is medicine, and I only work with positive intentions. I cannot bead all the time to ensure that only good energy goes into my pieces. My pieces are smudged before being packaged up with love, and sent to their new homes.
I'm always happy to chat with people! Either for questions about techniques or just to have someone to talk to. I am not here to be a teacher, but I can share my understanding of things. With that being said, I will not tolerate bullying in my comments or DMs. I reserve the right to block/delete anyone making my space unsafe for others.
My art is a piece of me, a representation of my journey, and I am always overjoyed when I have interactions or purchases! I am so happy to have a way to share some love in the world, and everyone deserves some medicine in their lives.
