Art with Purpose

Handcrafted with care along the Haldimand Tract, Charlotte (she/they) creates a variety of jewelry and art pieces. She uses high quality materials to create artwork inspired by the world around them, social trends, and her lived experience. They particularly enjoy creating pieces relating to nature, pride, celestial bodies, and Halloween.

Sustainability

I am committed to being as sustainable and environmentally-conscious as possible in all aspects of my small business. This allows me to keep my costs and environmental impact down, while maintaining the quality and individuality that people appreciate from small businesses.

The main ways this can be seen is through my branded materials, packaging materials, and how materials are sourced.

My branded items are all fulfilled by MOO, a company that I have verified sustainability commitments with- did you know some of my cards are made from cotton scraps?

I try to source all my supplies and materials in bulk for both minimal packaging, and to reduce emissions from the shipping process. All my suppliers have been extensively vetted by me in terms of sustainability, ethics, sourcing, and quality. Whenever possible, I try to support small and/or local businesses rather than large corporations.

While this may not always equate to lower prices, I firmly believe this is a crucial aspect of my values. I can guarantee that there has been proper policies along all parts of my supplies- something especially important for materials like gemstones, which can have a murky ethical process in some cases. If I am unable to ensure ethics, I will not stock the material.

I reuse packing materials (i.e. baggies, mailers, envelopes)- if you've ever seen me at an in-person market, you will have seen this! Reused items will have any information blacked out and/or covered with a label. Anything reused will be clearly labeled as such, and are cleaned/disinfected before using. I keep bubble wrap to protect my items in transit to in-person events, and anything I cannot find a way to repurpose is properly recycled.

I also repurpose components at times. I enjoy being able to revitalize vintage and/or abandoned jewelry collections, and will often adopt these pieces from Facebook "buy nothing" groups, thrift stores, or from peers. I will properly clean and disassemble any parts that I can find a use for, and make note when they are reused. Any items/parts I cannot use are donated, gifted, or even added to my destash bins! Nothing goes to waste.

Keeping my packaging and materials sustainable allows me to keep costs and waste down, helping to keep prices accessible.

If you have any questions about my process or commitments, please feel free to contact me! I am always happy to discuss things like this.

  • Custom Pieces

Custom work is available on a case-by-case basis. Details including turnaround time, price, and materials used will be discussed during the consultation process. Requests may be declined.

  • Remaking another artists piece

I will never remake another artist piece. It is incredibly disrespectful to the time/effort put in by the artist. With this being a huge concern within the Indigenous/ artist communities, I humbly request that you support the original maker. Any requests for copying other work will be declined.

  • Trades

I love trades! Please send me a message if you would like to do a trade.

I will usually accept a trade unless there is an announcement saying they are on hold, in this case it means I am not accepting custom trades specifically.
