The word "Apaqt" means Sea in Mi'kmaq, and these loops are part of a collection reminiscing on my childhood spent in the waters in Mi'kma'ki. I have always looked at samqwan (water) with love, never fear. The sea feels like being cradled by Kisulk (Creator). I see water as transformation. Samqwan is constant yet fluid, ever-present yet ever-changing. Samqwan is the small changes within the constant flow. I adore water teachings, and have always longed to just let Kisulk hold me close through Apaqtug, and float me gently to wherever She sees fit.
These loops are made with size 11/0 Czech and Miyuki seed beads, and feature repurposed vintage crystal rondelles.

Reminder: handmade art- especially beadwork- is delicate, so please be gentle with it! To keep your new piece safe, try to either hang or lay flat when storing. Avoid tugging on beads/strands, getting wet, exposing to chemicals (ie: lotion, makeup, soap) or direct sunlight. Pets may try to damage items made with quills, dentalium, or hide- please keep beadwork safely out of reach of your furry, feathered, or scaled friends!
