Gold tipped orange collection

I made these after taking a break from schoolwork today, with my institution posting a lot of stuff about Thursday with no regard for the Indigenous students and faculty who have to get these emails and bulletin updates and website banners. I took a break to check my social media... and found the exact same thing on both my business and personal accounts. I feel like I'm being trapped by an inescapable cage of trauma lately. So, grabbed some beads.
So many people are sharing these things with the promise of "reconciliation". Just a buzzword, no real action. Call them out on it, they just say "oh we're trying to learn about reconciliation". No apology or change to posts. It feels like "reconciliation" is just a shiny bow that people throw onto anything they're doing, as though it forgives any missteps. The thing about reconciliation, though, is you actually need to DO THE WORK. You can't just sprinkle the thought around without actually trying to do the work! This isn't about clout! This is about our people suffering!

The idea of this collection is that the gold tips represent the "thoughts and prayers" of the colonizers. They put a shiny bow onto the trauma we have faced as a community, without actually trying to help us. Reconciliation isn't going to happen overnight. And while yes, trying to learn about the past and trying to make sure that people stop brushing it under the rug is helpful, it isn't bringing back our stolen kin. It isn't #landback. It doesn't bring back our lost traditions and language and culture.

Please... just stop pretending that having a single day (which isn't a holiday for most of us) fixes anything. This is the BARE MINIMUM. We want recognition and support and to be able to be ourselves. Not a holiday that wont really change anything.

This collection is made with size 11/0 Czech seed beads, size 11/0 gold Charlotte cuts, various orange bicone beads, and electroplated gold bicones. Hooks will be selected by customer.
